Living on-campus gives students the opportunity to develop and thrive in all dimensions of life. The convenience and proximity to classrooms, food service, and events makes busy schedules easy. On-campus housing also affords students the opportunity to develop deep, meaningful relationships and learn to foster community. From a detailed roommate matching process to customized programming, the Residence Life staff supports students through times of transition and growth, whether it be learning how to do laundry or handling conflict.

Aquinas College has a residency requirement for all traditional full-time enrolled (registered for 12 or more credit hours)  first, second, and third year students that are not residing with their parents or legal guardians within a 45-minute commute. Transfer students and/or students who first enter Aquinas being at least 20 years of age or older by May 1st if classes begin in August or by October 1st if classes begin in January have the option of living off-campus for the duration of their time at Aquinas.  Students wanting to request exemption from the above residency requirement must submit the attached paperwork and any required documentation to support the request by the deadlines provided below.  Requests are not guaranteed. All requests are reviewed by committee for special circumstances.

• Priority Deadline for 2025-2026 requests for returning students is 11:59 p.m. on Friday, March 7.  
  
  
• A submitted request is not considered complete without the appropriate documentation included.
  
  
• Late requests submitted after the priority deadline should demonstrate and document exceptional and unanticipated circumstances and will be reviewed on a case by case basis by the committee. Decisions are typically communicated via e-mail approximately 10-15 business days after the request is submitted. Please note that the signing of an agreement off-campus does not entitle a student to a release from their housing contract.  We encourage all students not to sign any off-campus agreements until they have been notified that they are exempt from on-campus housing.
