黑料网 alumna Josyln Narber '10, dribbled and shot her way into the Women鈥檚 Basketball
Hall of Fame in Knoxville, Tenn. where her jersey is currently being held on display.
The number 鈥�52,鈥� which Narber faithfully wore at the start of every game, hangs in the 鈥淩ing of Honor.鈥� Over 100 jerseys from premier high school and college players hang from the rafters in this influential facility dedicated to women鈥檚 basketball.
鈥淪ince the Hall of Fame opened in 1999, you can imagine the caliber of players鈥� jerseys that have once hung in our rafters. Without a doubt, Josyln is definitely a part of an elite group, and a part of history now too,鈥� said Karen Tucker, Director of Basketball Relations at the Women鈥檚 Basketball Hall of Fame.
The honor is well deserved. An all time scoring leader in all of West Michigan, Narber was named by the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) as an All-American three times. Named the player of the year her senior year, Narber also managed to break an Aquinas record by scoring over 2100 points in her career.
鈥淪he was a unique player, she could play any position on the floor,鈥� said Aquinas Women鈥檚 Basketball Coach Linda Nash who oversaw the growth and development of Narber both on and off the court. 鈥淪he led us in scoring, rebounds, steals, although her claim to fame is shooting. She is the best passer I ever coached.鈥�
Even though her injured knee tormented her, Narber continued to perform to the highest standards. In her senior year, Narber started all 32 games, averaging 20.5 points and 7.5 rebounds. She also led Aquinas in 112 assists and 66 steals.
鈥淭here was blood, sweat, and tears put into it [the jersey],鈥� said Nash. 鈥淚t is a great tribute to her. I am really proud.鈥�
