History
The Art and Music Center opened its doors in 1984, its design detailing a recital hall on the lower level and art classes and galleries on the upper level. Aquinas College alumnus and architect Alfred Liu '63 designed the Kretschmer Recital Hall, which was dedicated to the late Ernest T. "Bud" Kretschmer.
Bud graduated in 1935, receiving an associate of fine arts. His continued efforts serving in the Army and Air Force, his love of music, and his dedicated work to elevate the musical lives in Grand Rapids and Santa Cruz, will always be remembered.
